Carbon Monoxide Detectors
Many people are unaware of the
danger of Carbon Monoxide. Carbon Monoxide is now also known as the silent
killer and that is exactly what it is. Carbon monoxide is produced by incomplete
combustion of fuels, dangerous amounts can also occur when a room is not
properly ventilated. Having appliances serviced and maintained
regularly is a must to make sure you are doing your best to keep a check on
the appliance and that the burners are working to the best standard
possible. Carbon Monoxide can be produced from any gas,
oil, coal and woodburning appliances. The scary facts are that Carbon Monoxide
is odourless, colourless and tasteless so no one can detect it in the air. The
symptoms of inhaling Carbon Monoxide are headaches, dizziness, nausea and
exhaustion and leaves the body starved of oxygen which can have devastating
effects. It is known that Carbon Monoxide kills on average 30 Britons a year.
These devastating facts should urge everyone to take what ever measures they can
to protect themselves and others around them. If you are reading this please
tell friends and family of these risks and ask them to protect themselves also.
I can honestly say I always thought the same as many other people ' Our
appliances are safe and it will never happen to me' but one day after a bottled
gas heater that I owned was running low on fuel a lound noise started beeping in
the room and I had no idea where it was coming from. The noise was piercing and
could not go unnoticed. Then I realised it was not a fire alarm but my Carbon
Monoxide detector. I opened all off the windows and left the room immediatley
and did not return until safe. Please protect yourself, it was so scary to think
that if I didnt have this detector I would have been competely unaware of the
Carbon Monoxide.
We sell Corgi approved Carbon
Monoxide protectors (as below) and they are the same as the one that warned
myself.
